LOVELAND: Pinewood Reservoir, located west of Flatiron Reservoir and southwest of Loveland, will experience multi-month low water levels beginning in September.  Driven by construction associated with the Windy Gap Firming Project’s Chimney Hollow Reservoir, Pinewood water levels will decline beginning September 9 through September 15, 2022. While Pinewood remains open, water surface area will be diminished, which is expected to impact normal recreation access at the reservoir.

The temporary draining will allow Northern Water to place a bulkhead at Pinewood Reservoir’s outlet into the Bald Mountain Tunnel. Refilling of Pinewood to normal levels (around 6,570 feet) will come after a separate rehabilitation project on the East Portal of Adams Tunnel is complete in mid-December.

Media inquiries or general questions about recreation at Pinewood Reservoir should be directed to Cindy Claggett, District Manager, at 970-619-4456 or cclaggett@larimer.org.

Media inquiries or general questions about Reclamation and its operation and maintenance procedures should be directed to Anna Perea at 970-290-1185 or aperea@usbr.gov.
