  1. How old do you have to be to buy nicotine and tobacco products?

    21 years old 

  2. Does LCDHE supply quit materials for business or community members?

    YES! We have brochures, rack cards, and business cards in both Spanish and English. We also have quit kits. Please reach out to us if you are interested in receiving these resources. 

  3. What can I do as a community member?

    As a trusted or an informed adult/parent you can have a big influence on youth by encouraging healthy choices and setting clear standards, knowing the facts, and helping youth find resources to quit such as those on our website.

    If you’re a community organization interested in getting involved in tobacco policy or providing resources to the community, please reach out! 

  4. What do I do if I suspect a shop is selling to minors?

    It is illegal for shops to sell to anyone under 21. If you suspect a violation please submit this form to the Department of Revenue.

  5. What is the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act?

    In 2019, the Colorado Legislature updated the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act (passed in 2006) to expand smoke-free protections. Current protections include:

    1. Vaping is not allowed in indoor public places, including in all bars and restaurants
    2. People have to be 25 feet from the main or front doorway when smoking or vaping unless defined differently by local law.
    3. All hotel and motel rooms are smoke and vape-free
    4. All businesses are smoke and vape-free
    5. Common areas of assisted living facilities are smoke and vape-free

  6. What is a vape?

    Vaping devices are a battery-operated device used to inhale an aerosol, typically nicotine or THC, flavorings, and other chemicals. These devices may resemble the make-up of a traditional tobacco cigarette, cigar, or pipes (cig-a-likes), or novelty and everyday items such as pens, USB drives, lipsticks, keychains, and more. Other vape devices contain fillable tanks that are typically bigger than traditional vape devices, but are still handheld.  

     

  7. What is in my vape?

    Vaping devices, also known as e-cigarettes, contain a variety of substances, including a liquid (nicotine, THC, or CBD), heavy metals (lead, nickel, or tin), and other chemicals. Not all vaping devices carry the same materials and some contain more harmful materials which can expose the user and people nearby to a variety of health-risks.

  8. Can I throw away my vape and/or e-cigarette?

    No. Vaping devices/e-cigarettes contain nicotine, a toxic substance that is harmful to wildlife and the environment, and lithium batteries, which can cause fires whenever they are thrown away if they are damaged or exposed to extreme temperatures.
