Hoping to make it clearer for the public, the Larimer County Courthouse Offices Building has been given a new name and will be known as Larimer County Administrative Services.

Why did the name change? The new name will help make it clearer for the community to distinguish what services are located in the renamed Administrative Services Building, 200 West Oak St., Fort Collins versus the location of the Larimer County Justice Center, at 201 La Porte Avenue one block north, where the courts, courtrooms and district attorney are housed.

Residents looking for courtrooms for a trial or other court functions often mistakenly end up in the wrong building and become frustrated having to ask the Larimer County Clerk & Recorder’s staff for direction for the correct location of the courts.

Historically, many counties once housed their courtrooms in the same building as other county services, but with growth in some counties, the need to put courts in a different facility has become common for high-population counties in Colorado.

The name change will take effect on July 26. Community members will start seeing the new name online immediately.
