Lieutenant Staci Shaffer with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office has been selected as the 44th Judge Conrad L. Ball Award recipient.

With over 27 years of experience in the criminal justice system, she has exhibited a dedication to significantly improving criminal justice in our community.

Shaffer will be recognized for her accomplishments in improving criminal justice and for her innovation, collaboration, and use of data in decision-making.

Throughout her career, Shaffer has worked toward strengthening public safety while also supporting those who are incarcerated to get a fresh start to become productive members of our community. She has worked to instill and promote change in criminal justice in many areas while strongly advocating for those in the criminal justice system with high mental health needs.

Shaffer also brought the Medication-Assisted Program [MAT] to Larimer County, which is used to help those incarcerated in our community treat substance abuse and sustain recovery. The use of the MAT program in Larimer County has reduced recidivism, substance relapse, and overdose fatalities, while also improving educational outcomes.

She has also played an essential role in collaborating with other organizations in Colorado to use the MAT program and improve criminal justice, demonstrating a solid commitment to positive impacts in our state.

Other 2022 Conrad Ball Award nominees were former Front Range Community College Law Enforcement Academy Director Kathy Mitchell-Wright and Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith.

This year’s banquet to celebrate the 44th Judge Conrad L. Ball Award will be held on Sept. 30, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Fort Collins Country Club, 1920 Country Club Rd., Fort Collins.
