A proposed legislative zoning amendment intended to change the existing Open (0) and Rural Residential (RR-2) zone districts for multiple publicly owned properties (State and Federal) to the Natural Resources (NR) zone district. The properties being considered for the change are currently being used as forest lands, land conservation or open space recreation.

If approved the proposed rezoning will result in a zoning designation that is aligned with the goals of the land use framework objectives within the Larimer County Comprehensive Plan.

The following are the intent statements for the existing Open (0) Rural Residential (RR-2) and proposed Natural Resources (NR) zone districts.

Rural Residential (RR-2)
The RR-2 district is intended to accommodate rural residential uses, along with compatible agricultural and civic uses. It serves as a transition between rural and urban areas. Development options include conservation developments or subdivisions depending on the size of the property being developed. Minimum lot sizes are based upon the availability of public water and sewer serving the property.

Open (0)
The O district is intended to accommodate a wide range of development patterns. It is primarily intended for rural residential uses and agricultural uses.

Natural Resources (NR)
The NR district is intended to maintain the character of natural areas, public lands, and open lands. Rural residential development may be allowed through the Rural Land Use Process (5.9).
