FAQs

  1. What is Community Corrections?

Community Corrections provides sentencing or placement alternatives in lieu of prison incarceration for felony offenders. Participating requires an offender to change his or her behavior, while allowing restricted access and privileges in the community.

  2. What is a Community Corrections Evaluation and how do I schedule one?

Visit our Evals webpage for information on this topic.

  3. What types of offenses/offenders do you accept for placement?

We accept a wide variety of offenses. There is not a specific crime that results in an  automatic rejection. The details of the offense is only one of the questions asked during an evaluation and you are provided a chance to explain the offense.

  4. Someone I know has been sentenced/accepted to Community Corrections. How long is the waitlist/when will they enter their program?

Visit our Evals webpage for information on this topic.

  5. I'm a family member/friend of a resident or individual being screened. What information are you allowed to tell me?

Without a release of information we are unable to give out specific details regarding entry date, specific programming, or evaluation results.

  6. How do I visit someone in Community Corrections?

Visitation is currently suspended until further notice.

  7. How soon will I know if I am approved to visit?

Visitation is currently suspended until further notice.

When visitation is reinstated, the following process will be in place for visitation:

Visitation is run as soon as possible, no less than once a week. If you applied more than seven days ago, please contact 970-498-7512 to confirm your application.

  8. Why was my application to visit denied?

Staff cannot give out specific information about a denial. Visitation requests are automatically denied if:

    • The individual is under criminal justice supervision (pretrial, probation, parole, etc)

    • The individual has an open criminal or DUI case

    • The individual is required to register as a sex offender

    • There is an active protection order with the resident
    • There was an error with the application (no name listed, no date of birth, multiple adults on one application)
    • The person is not a resident in Larimer County Community Corrections

Residents can speak to their case managers about denied visitation requests. Visitors may reapply if they have resolved the original reason for denial (such as no longer being under supervision or correcting an error in the application).

  9. Can I drop off items during visitation?

Yes, more drop off information can be found here https://www.larimer.gov/cja/comcor/dropoffs

  10. How and when do I send belongings to someone accepted into the program?

You can send your loved ones their belongings once they enter our program. We do not have a space to hold their belongings prior to their entry. You can address the items to your loved one and mail the package to 2255 Midpoint Drive Fort Collins, CO 80525. Dropping off items in-person at the facility is a good option, however please review the specific times and guidelines for this on the Facility Drop-offs webpage. If you are able to drop their items off in person, please be aware that you will not be allowed to visit with your loved one at that time.

  11. What are the facility drop-off times? What can I bring to drop off?

Please visit our Facility Drop-offs webpage for information on this topic.
