  1. Am I qualified to register to vote?

    You are eligible to register to vote if you:

    • Are a United States Citizen
    • Are 16 years of age, but you must be 18 years of age or older on the date of the election at which you intend to vote.
    • Are a Colorado resident for at least 22 days before the election at which you intend to vote.
    • Are not serving a sentence of incarceration for a felony conviction.
  2. How do I register to vote?

    You can register to vote through the following methods:

    Online at the Secretary of State's website

    Complete, print and sign a voter registration form: English | Spanish

    You can return your signed Voter Registration Form via email, fax, or mail:

  3. Can I register to vote in person?

    Yes! You may register to vote in person Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM at the following Larimer County Offices:

    Estes Park

    All Larimer County offices are closed on holidays.

    You may also register to vote in person when you obtain your Colorado Driver's License. The information you provide at the Driver's License office is used to register you to vote in Colorado.

    • Your county clerk will verify if they have a complete record to register you to vote.
    • If your record is complete, the county clerk will send a notice to you that you are registered to vote. You can return the notice to either decline to be registered or to affiliate with a party.
    • If you do not decline to be registered within 20 days after the notice is mailed, and the form is not returned as undeliverable, you are then registered to vote.

    You can also obtain a Voter Registration Form from the following locations and mail or drop off the registration form at 200 W Oak St. (5th floor), Fort Collins, CO 80521.

  4. Do I need to include a copy of ID if I mail my registration form?

    No, if:

    You are currently registered in Colorado and you are making a change to your registration record,
    -OR-

    You are registering for the first time in Colorado and you write your Colorado Driver's License or ID number on the form and we can verify that this number is yours.

    Yes, if:

    You do not have a Colorado Driver's License or ID number.

    Acceptable forms of IDs:

    • A valid Colorado driver's license
    • A valid identification card issued by the Department of Revenue in accordance with the requirements of Part 3 of Article 2 of Title 42, C.R.S.
    • A valid U.S. Passport
    • A valid employee identification card with a photograph of the eligible elector issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government or of this state, or by any county, municipality, board, authority, or other political subdivision of this state
    • A valid pilot's license issued by the Federal Aviation Administration or other authorized agency of the United States
    • A valid U.S. Military identification card with a photograph of the eligible elector
    • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows the name and address of the elector.
    • A valid Medicare or Medicaid card issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (formerly the United States Health Care Financing Administration)
    • A certified copy of a U.S. Birth certificate for the elector issued in the United States
    • Certified documentation of naturalization
    • A valid student identification card with a photograph of the eligible elector issued by an institute of higher education in Colorado, as defined in section 23-3.1-102(5), C.R.S.
    • A valid veteran identification card issued by the United States department of veterans affairs veterans health administration with a photograph of the eligible elector
    • A valid identification card issued by a federally recognized tribal government certifying tribal membership
    • Verification that a voter is a resident of a group residential facility
    • Verification that a voter is a person committed to the Department of Human Services and confined and eligible to register and vote.

    Any form of identification shall be considered identification ONLY if the address is in the state of Colorado.

  5. How do I change my name, address or political party affiliation on my registration record?

    You may change your name, address or affiliation on your voter registration record by the following methods:

    Online at the Secretary of State's website 
    -OR-
    Complete, print and sign a voter registration form: English | Spanish

    You can return your signed Voter Registration Form via email, fax, or mail:

    You may also obtain a Voter Registration Form at most libraries, city/town clerk offices or at any Colorado Driver's License bureau.

    If you are unable to obtain a Voter Registration Form, you may submit a personal note containing: your name, birth date, old address, new address, signature and date of the request.

  6. How do I cancel or withdraw my registration?

    You may cancel or withdraw your registration by the following methods:

    • Online at the Secretary of State's website
    • Contact the Larimer County Elections Office at (970) 498-7820 and we will mail you a withdrawal form.
    • Send a personal note containing:
      • Your name
      • Birth date
      • Address
      • Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
      • Signature
      • The date of request

  7. When can I vote?

    As of May 10, 2013, all registered, active voters in the State of Colorado will receive their ballot by mail for all elections.

    If you have any questions regarding voting, contact the Elections Office at 970-498-7820.

  8. Where can I vote?

    You may return your voted ballot by mail (postage rates apply), or you may hand deliver your ballot to a Voter Service and Polling Center or designated drop-off location throughout Larimer County.

  9. What if I make a mistake on my ballot?

    Call the Larimer County Elections Office for assistance, or visit a Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC).

  10. How do I know Larimer County received my ballot?

    You can check the status of your mail ballot through the following methods:

    • Look up your voter registration on the Colorado Secretary of State's website
    • Call the Larimer County Elections Office
    • Use the orange stub on your ballot to track your ballot through BallotTrax.

    Note: Ballot tracking is only available for mail in ballots.

  11. Are ADA accessible voting machines available?

    Yes. ADA accessible voting machines are available for use at all Voter Service and Polling Centers. For more information, please call the Larimer County Elections Office.

  12. I won't be at my Larimer County residential address for the November 5, 2024 General Election. What are my voting options?

    If you are traveling during the election period, you have a few options available to you.

    1. You can update your ballot address online at the Secretary of State's website. Please note that your ballots will continue to be sent to that address until you update it again. Remember: ballots are not forwardable by law.
    2. If you are traveling overseas, you can register as an overseas voter. Please note that you will remain registered as an overseas voter until you update your voter registration again.
    3. Beginning on September 23 , 2024, you can acquire an early ballot, issued in-house at the Elections Office (200 W Oak St, 5th Floor, Fort Collins, CO, 80521). This option will be available until October 21, 2024.
  13. I am an overseas or military voter. What are my voting options?

  14. What should I do if I receive a ballot at my residence for someone who no longer lives there?

    Whether a former resident or a relative who has moved out – simply write “Return to Sender - No Longer at This Address” on the outside of the unopened envelope and return it in the mail. Doing so helps keep the voter registration rolls clean.

  15. When should I reach out to request a replacement ballot?

    Larimer County Elections begins mailing out ballots on Friday, October 11. If you do not receive your ballot by Friday, October 18,  then you can request a replacement ballot. You may also request a replacement ballot if you lost or damaged your original ballot.

    You can request a replacement ballot by:

    • Visiting the Elections Office (200 W Oak St, Suite 5100, Fort Collins, CO, 80521). For the 2024 General Election, this service is available September 23 through October 18.
    • Calling the Elections Office (970-498-7820). For the 2024 General Election, this service is available October 11 through October 28.
    • At a Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC). For the 2024 General Election, this service is available October 21 through November 5. 

    The last day ballots can be mailed out for the 2024 General Election is October 28. After that date, you can visit a VSPC for a replacement ballot.
