  1. I received a summons to report to Courtroom 1A. Now what?

    You will need to visit the Larimer County Justice Center located at 201 Laporte Ave. in Fort Collins.

    1. Once you arrive, you will check in with the courts and wait for your advisement.
    2. You will get the opportunity to speak directly with a Deputy District Attorney about your case. (Note you are not required to have an attorney, but are welcome to bring one).
    3. The Deputy District Attorney will go over the facts of your case and offer an opportunity for resolution.
      • This could be taking classes, probation, etc.
    4. You do NOT have to accept this resolution. If you would like more time to think or to consult an attorney you are free to do so. Your case then will be moved into a courtroom.
  2. I need to change my court date. How do I do that?

    Only the Court can change your court date. To do this, contact the Clerk of the Courts at (970) 494-3500. You can also request a change by filing a Motion to Continue directly with the Courts. Make sure to include your case name and number in a letter format.

  3. How do I get a public defender?

    To get assistance, you can call their office at (970) 493-1212 and press 0. Alternatively, you can visit their office at #1 Old Town Square, Suite 201, Fort Collins, CO 80524, and fill out an application in person.

  4. I missed my court date; what should I do?

    It's important to contact the Court as soon as you can to prevent a warrant for your arrest. If you have a bondsman, let them know too, especially if you missed your court date.

  5. I am a defendant and I don't think my attorney is very good. Can I talk to the Deputy District Attorney assigned to my case?

    If you are represented by an attorney, the Deputy District Attorney cannot ethically talk with you about your case without your attorney being present.

  6. Can I sign up for reminders for Court?
