The Benefits of Nature

Come learn about how and why getting outside is good for you! Modern research is proving what many have long known: we just feel better when we get outside – but why? Learn about the latest research, and how to develop your personal program for how to reduce your stress and improve your health. Techniques for putting your senses into touch with your environment will be demonstrated.
Be prepared to sit on the ground; to take off your shoes and stand in place; and to sit still for a few minutes. Participants will meet at the Lions Open Space picnic pavilion.
This activity is rated: Easy (slow pace, paved trail with no elevation gain. Pit toilets are available, potable water likely to be available depending on weather). Challenges: Little shade, some natural surface trails.
Program is free, but registration is required.
Carpooling is recommended as the parking lot can fill quickly on the weekends.
Participants should bring:
Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen)
Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed-toe recommended)
Water
Insect repellant (optional)
Snacks
Clothing appropriate for the weather
Backpack (to carry it all)
