Do you have an adventurous spirit? Do you enjoy long hikes in nature but yearn to learn more about what you see? Join Naturalist Rob Pickett for a wild wander through Larimer County Open Spaces. These 4–5-mile hikes will reveal fascinating aspects of the local flora, fauna, geology, and landscapes, making it not just a physical journey but an educational one too! Learn insights that you can carry forward into your future outdoor explorations and deepen your connection with nature while expanding your understanding of the environment around you.

You'll hike a leisurely 4 miles along the Wild Loop Trail including Hunter Loop. This hike will be moderately difficult, traveling over natural surface trails, uneven surfaces, and may include mud. Challenges: little shade, rocky trails. Bringing binoculars is optional. A spirit of adventure is a must have!

Meet at main trailhead for Devil's Backbone Open Space. Carpooling is recommended as parking is limited.
Program is free, but registration is required. Devil's Backbone Open Space charges a $10 day use fee; if you would like to explore Devil's Backbone Open Space without paying the fee, you can check out a Discover Pack from a local library or one of our offices.
