The Larimer County 4-H Exchange Program is a two-year commitment for 4-H members between the ages of 14 - 18. The youth help plan an exchange with an Exchange Club in another state. The first year, Larimer County hosts visitors from the partner state. The next year, the Larimer County members travel to the partner state. The Exchange Program has been in Larimer County for more than 50 years.
Members who join the Exchange Club can:
- Create lifetime memories
- Learn about travel, planning, fundraising, and budgeting
- Gain a deeper insight into their own values
- Increase understanding and appreciation of others’ heritage, customs, and cultural factors
- Foster the development of initiative, independence, and leadership skills
- Create new, and perhaps, lasting friendships
- Expand 4-H understanding beyond local community or county
- Share information learned to strengthen local 4-H clubs and activities
- Become involved in another community
Every member is responsible for the cost of the program. In Larimer County, Exchange Club members fundraise throughout the year through events like the Exchange Club Auction & Dinner in February. Funds raised will be evenly divided by all club members who participate in each fundraising event. More than 90% of the funds come through fundraising activities where club members volunteer their time and skills.
