Healthcare providers play a key role in ensuring the lifelong health in their clients. As a healthcare provider, individuals and families rely on your knowledge, skills, and advice to help make health decisions that will affect their life now, and throughout their life. The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is one of the great opportunities that we have to improve the health of our patients and to reduce the the disease burden of cancer in our community. Seven types of cancers, affecting both men and women, are currently linked to HPV infection and account for over 31,000 of cancer cases annually. With such an important cancer prevention tool available, it is hard to imagine that there are youth and young adults who have not been vaccinated against HPV.
The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment is committed to working with healthcare professionals to end HPV related disease. Our department partners with healthcare providers in our community to ensure they have tools to make the best HPV vaccine recommendation possible. In addition to the print materials available below, we offer in-service trainings to health care practices that cover current best-practices to increase HPV vaccine uptake. These trainings are available free of cost and are offered in 30 minute and 1 hour time slots with a light meal or refreshments provided.
