Health

If you are considering opening a new business that requires a license from Larimer County Department of Health and Environment to operate, the following will assist you in preparing the items necessary for review.

Plans are reviewed to ensure the business will be operated and constructed to meet the current food safety regulations and to help prevent costly construction changes.

Restaurants and Mobile Units

Larimer County Department of Health and Environment licenses retail food establishments, mobile food establishments, and temporary vendors.

To construct or remodel a retail food establishment  you will need to submit a plan review application-a set of plans with outlined specifications and application fee to the health department. Plans and specifications must be reviewed and approved before any construction is started.

To serve food and/or beverages at a special events or farmer’s markets review the Vendor Guidelines for Temporary Events tab on our Food Safety Program page.

All applications may be returned to our offices or Submitted Online

NOTE: Retail food licenses are associated to the current ownership and location, and are non-transferable. If you're planning to purchase, or have already purchased an existing food service operation and are not making any changes to the establishment, menu, or equipment, we may consider your application for license without a full plan review. If you are taking over an existing retail food establishment contact our office for a change of ownership inspection.

Swimming Pools

New or extensively remodeled swimming facilities must be reviewed prior to construction. This applies to the following types of pools:

  •  Public - recreation center, public park
  •  Semi-public - hotel or motel, mobile home park, child care center, health club or spa - open to members and guests only.

The Application may be returned to our offices or Submitted Online

NOTE: Schools are required to submit food service plans and specifications prior to starting construction, remodel or operation.
