Online Reporting

Please do not utilize the online reporting system if the crime / incident you are reporting did not occur in unincorporated Larimer County.

In other words - If you are a resident of a municipality within Larimer County (Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park, or Timnath) please contact those agencies directly. If you do not contact the proper agency it could cause an unnecessary delay in the investigation of your complaint. 

If reporting a crime or incident in unincorporated Larimer County, you can use our online reporting system.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is not a primary reporting agency for motor vehicle accidents unless they occur within the Town of Wellington or the Town of Berthoud.

If you are involved in or observe a motor vehicle accident and people are injured, call 911 immediately. If there are no injuries, exchange information with the other driver(s) and call Colorado State Patrol Dispatch at (303) 239-4501 or *CSP from your cell phone (this is a free call) to report the accident.

If you are in the Town of Wellington or the Town of Berthoud and are involved in or observe a motor vehicle accident and people are injured, call 911 immediately.  If there are no injuries, exchange information with the other driver(s) and call the Larimer County Sheriff's Office at (970) 416-1985.

Colorado State Law Requires that all motor vehicle accidents must be reported immediately.

Accident Alert Information:

All motor vehicle accidents must be reported to the proper Law Enforcement Agency. Report must be made without delay and no later than three days from the accident.  Online or counter reports are allowed when there is no personal injury, no drugs or alcohol involved.

If you wish to report suspicious activity you believe is related to illegal narcotics or the location of a current fugitive in Larimer County, please call 970-416-2560 or provide information online to the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force.  You may remain anonymous and all information received is confidential.

Warning -  It is illegal to assist a fugitive in any way.

Accessory to a Crime - C.R.S. (Colorado Revised Statutes) 18-08-0105

Colorado Law states: "A person is an accessory to a crime if, with intent to hinder, delay, or prevent the discovery, detention, apprehension, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of another for the commission of a crime he renders assistance to such person." This crime can be up to a Class 4 FELONY, punishable by up to 12 years in prison and/or a fine up to $500,000.00.

Missing persons should be reported as soon as possible. You do not have to wait 24 to 72 hours to report a missing person. For children under 12 and at-risk adults, you should call 911 as soon as you determine they are missing.  For missing teenagers and adults, please call our non-emergency number (970) 416-1985 as soon as you are certain they are not returning home on their own.

Law enforcement will need as much identifying information as possible including height, weight, hair color, eye color, a description of the clothing the person was last wearing, and a description of the car if they were driving.  Law enforcement will also want to know about any identifying characteristics of the person such as scars, birthmarks or tattoos, as well as things like disabilities or other medical conditions.

Any information that can be provided as to where they might go, who they might be with, etc. will be helpful.

If the missing person is a child, information about the person who may have taken them will also be needed.  A current photograph should be provided.  An Amber Alert can be issued if the criteria are met.

Amber Alert Criteria

1.) The child must be 17 years of age or younger.

2.) The child must be in immediate danger of serious bodily harm or death.

3.) There must be enough descriptive information to believe a broadcast will assist in the recovery.

4.) The activation must be recommended by the local law enforcement agency to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
