    • Once you have passed the required testing, you will be added to the on-call list
    • On-call firefighters can be called out for a local or national mission; you will only be paid for the missions you respond to

    1. I have questions about becoming an on-call firefighter. Who can I contact?

    2. What qualifications do I have to have to apply for this position?

      Be sure to check the up-to-date job posting, but these are a few:

      • Introduction to ICS (I-100), Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service (L-180), Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190), Firefighter Training (S-130), and National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) (IS700) by date of hire
      • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire
      • Must be at least 18 years of age
      • Ability to obtain and maintain first aid and community CPR certifications
      • Must reside within 50 miles of the Fire Cache, located at 1303 N. Shields, Fort Collins, CO 80524
    3. What are the potential missions I could be called out for?

      Being an on-call firefighter in Larimer County gives you the opportunity to respond to a variety of different missions:

      • Local missions (typically a few days response)
      • National missions (14-16 day response)
      • Search and Rescue missions
      • Initial Attack Module missions
    4. Are there other opportunities to further my skills with the on call program?

      ES provides on call firefighters training opportunities throughout the year. Several trainings are paid, and we will provide additional in-house certifications to further your career (if you choose to do so).
