Warrant Clearance and Community Resource Fair returns to Fort Collins
A warrant clearance and community resource fair will be held at Timberline Church in Fort Collins on Oct. 7 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Individuals who have outstanding warrants on certain lower-level offenses will have the chance to clear their warrants, work towards case resolution, and connect to community resources and services. No arrests will be made for those attending the event.
This is the third warrant clearance event held by the agencies of the 8th Judicial District, which includes the Judicial Branch, the Office of the State Public Defender, and the District Attorney’s Office. The Community Resource Fair is hosted by Larimer County Community Justice Alternatives. Additional partners include Pre-Trial Services, Probation, and Fort Collins Municipal Court.
“Our goal is to re-engage people to get cases resolved while connecting them to beneficial resources,” says District Attorney Gordon McLaughlin. “Our first two events were incredibly successful in finding appropriate accountability and providing restoration for the community. When we get people back on track without further draining limited criminal justice resources, we benefit public safety and help build a strong community at the same time.”
Offenses that are eligible for warrant clearance include some misdemeanor, traffic, and petty drug charges, Drug Felony 4 charges, Fort Collins Municipal Court charges, some Class 5 and Class 6 felonies, and Failure to Register charges.
Ineligible offenses include any warrants outside of Larimer County, domestic violence misdemeanors and felonies, any cases under the Victim Rights Act, Careless Driving Causing Death or Injury charges, Possession of a Weapon by Previous Offender charges, Felony Eluding, sex offenses except Failure to Register, and Class 1, 2, 3, and 4 Felonies, except Drug Felony 4.
The Community Resource Fair is free and open to anyone who wishes to connect with area resources. Organizations in attendance include The Family Center/La Familia, Larimer County Veterans Service Office, Food Bank for Larimer County, Fort Collins Rescue Mission, the Murphy Center, StoneSoup, and others.
