Search efforts for Mr. Powers continued on Friday, September 22 but yielded no new information.

In addition to LCSO personnel, search resources included 12 people from Larimer County Search and Rescue, 4 SAR dogs, 6 searchers from Rocky Mountain National Park, and a drone operator from the Loveland Police Department.

Teams covered every trail between the Dunraven area and Rocky Mountain National Park. All ridges and drainages within a two mile stretch were also checked, and drone operators searched a significant distance from the air on both Thursday and Friday.

Search crews spoke to all hikers they encountered in an effort to gain any additional info about where Powers may have gone. Despite the extensive effort, investigators found no indication of his location or intended path. The search will be suspended until any new information becomes available. People who may have seen Powers in this area, or who have information about his direction of travel, are encouraged to contact LCSO Investigator Justin Atwood at 970-498-5143.

Foul play is not suspected, and investigators do not believe there is any threat to public safety associated with this case.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office investigators are asking the public for information about a missing man.

On September 19, 2023, Michael Powers, 64, of Greeley was reported as missing to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office. On September 21 around 12:30 p.m., WCSO requested assistance from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office after Powers’ vehicle was located unoccupied at the Dunraven Trailhead (2105 Dunraven Glade Rd, between Drake and Glen Haven).

Larimer County Emergency Services personnel, deputies, and Larimer County Search and Rescue responded to search the area, but Powers was not located. The search was suspended at sundown and will resume on September 22. Due to the number of trails in the area, investigators are working to narrow down where he may have gone. Photos of Powers and his vehicle are attached. Anyone who saw him, or who may have information about his direction of travel, is asked to contact Investigator Justin Atwood at 970-498-5143.

Information obtained during the investigation indicated that Powers may have been experiencing crisis. Investigators do not believe there is any threat to the public in connection with this incident.
