Alexander Mountain Fire Update – July 31, 2024

The Alexander Mountain Fire is estimated at 7,648 acres with 1% containment per the U.S. Forest Service. Smoke created visibility challenges for air assets, which worked throughout the day dropping water and fire retardant. Firefighters worked on securing the east perimeter near Sylvan Dale Ranch, and the fire has not crossed Highway 34.

Fire personnel will remain on scene overnight and suppression efforts will continue tomorrow morning. At 6 a.m. on August 1, Southwest Area Incident Management Team 1 will assume command of the fire from the U.S. Forest Service. Hotshot firefighter crews and other resources will support firefighting efforts.
