As of the evening of August 6, the Alexander Mountain Fire is estimated at 9,668 acres and 83% containment.

Incident command will transition from the Southwest Incident Management Team back to the US Forest Service and Larimer County Sheriff’s Office unified command team on Friday, August 9 at 6 a.m. Local fire personnel will continue fire suppression and containment efforts. Community members may see smoke and smoldering fire activity in the burn area, but the perimeter is not expected to expand.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for the area along County Road 43 west of Drake to Old Bridge Road, as well as Waltonia Road. Residents in these areas will need to access their homes or properties from Estes Park as Highway 34 remains closed west of Idlewild to Waltonia. Visit www.nocoalert.org to see a map of the updated evacuation areas and road closures.

Re-entry credentialing was held on August 5 and 6 for Storm Mountain and Cedar Park residents. Going forward, the Larimer County Clerk and Recorder’s Office will assist any residents who still need to obtain credentials. Once fire and law enforcement officials deem the area safe, Storm Mountain and Cedar Park residents may present these credentials to pass the roadblock at County Road 43 and Storm Mountain Drive. Owners may bring small animals/household pets home; however, due to potential safety risks in the impacted area, livestock are not yet permitted to return. More information about credentialing is available here: https://www.larimer.gov/alexander-mountain-fire-evacuee-re-entry-credentialing

On Wednesday, August 7, the large animal evacuation center will transition from Island Grove back to The Ranch in Loveland as most displaced livestock have returned to their owners.

The Larimer County Office of Emergency Management is organizing a Disaster Assistance Center (DAC), a one-stop shop for anyone impacted by the Alexander Mountain Fire. This resource center will be open Friday, August 9 through Sunday, August 11 from 9:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. The DAC is free, open to the public, and will be held at The Ranch Events Complex (5280 Arena Circle, Loveland).
