August is Child Support Awareness Month, a time to spotlight how children can grow to become healthy, productive adults when they receive the financial support they need to thrive. The Larimer County Child Support Services Program, part of Human Services, assists families by collecting and distributing child support payments.

In 2023, Larimer County Child Support Services collected $18.5 million in current and overdue payments. The team also opened 889 new child support cases, established 187 new child support orders, modified 314 child support orders, and supported over 6,000 families in receiving child support services.

In addition to securing financial payments for children, Child Support Services provide holistic help, such as:

  • Assistance in establishing legal parentage.
  • Increasing safety for survivors of domestic violence when they access Child Support Services.
  • Enrolling families in a free Nurturing Parenting program to improve parent-child relationships.
  • Working with parents to reduce their barriers to paying child support.

Community members in Larimer County who feel they might benefit from the Child Services Support Program are encouraged to apply. Applications can be completed online, sent via mail, or submitted in-person at any of the Human Services Welcome Centers. There is no household income requirement to participate in the program.
