The US Forest Service assumed command of the Pearl Fire at 6 a.m. on September 17. As of Tuesday evening, the fire is estimated at 128 acres with 5% containment. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office continues to work in partnership with the USFS and multiple agencies to support firefighting efforts.

On September 16, Governor Polis made a declaration of disaster emergency, which provides resources and support for the Pearl Fire. Roughly 150 ground personnel and multiple air resources continued operating throughout the day.

In addition to fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, several Scooper planes arrived Tuesday to support air attack efforts. Air resources are drawing on water from Carter Lake, which will restrict lake activities. Shoreline recreation and camping remain open as of Tuesday. Visit the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources page for details about recreation impacts.

Several evacuation orders remain in effect. An overnight evacuation shelter has been set up at the Livermore Community Church located at 284 W CR74E. Small pets are allowed.

“Wildfires and evacuations impact this community on a deeper level after the incidents we’ve weathered in recent years,” Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen said. “That’s why our partnerships are key during these uncertain times. LCSO and our partners are here to protect you and your family. Our teams train for these incidents. We learn from each one. And we stand ready to protect this community.”
