Longtime resident Madeline Novey has joined the Larimer County Behavioral Health Services Department as its new communications specialist.

The 16-year communications professional is excited to be part of a team that is making a difference in the lives of Larimer County residents with its investment in our community’s emotional wellbeing and mental health. Her first day was Dec. 2, 2024.

“For our community to be the best place in which to live, work, and play, our family members, co-workers, neighbors, and friends need to know that they aren’t alone and that help is always available,” Novey said. “I hope to work with our team to increase awareness of and access to critical programs and services through our impactful work.”

Novey earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Technical Communication from Colorado State University in 2011. She has since worked as a reporter at the Loveland Reporter-Herald, and as a reporter and editor at the Fort Collins Coloradoan. While at Poudre Fire Authority, she oversaw communications, public affairs, and the award-winning risk-reduction and public education team. From 2018 to 2024, she served the students, families, and staff of Poudre School District as the chief information officer, overseeing the award-winning communications department, and as a then-member of the superintendent’s Cabinet.

She grew up in Loveland and has spent her career growing relationships throughout the region, state and nation. “These partnerships help make the incredible place we call home an even better and more inclusive one, and I couldn’t be more thankful to those with whom I’ve collaborated over the years.”

In her new role, Novey oversees the Behavioral Health Services communications strategy, which includes but isn’t limited to telling the story of the impact of the millions of tax dollars that support behavioral health services in Larimer County; management of the department’s web pages and social media platforms; and public and media relations.
