Larimer County Behavioral Health Services director to serve on regional mental health, substance use committee
Behavioral Health Services Director Amy Martonis has been appointed to the Mental Health and Substance Use Alliance Steering Committee, an organization with a 25-year legacy of collaboration in Larimer County.
Her service on the committee exemplifies the Behavioral Health Service department’s belief that collaboration and partnerships are key to enhancing the community’s behavioral health system.
“Our vision is for Larimer County to be a place where people are empowered and supported in accessing a full range of behavioral health services that promote well-being for all,” said Martonis, who will serve on the 16-seat committee in 2025. “It is what we can do together that enables change.”
Founded in 1999, the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Alliance is an unincorporated nonprofit organization dedicated to improving behavioral health care. After a hiatus and transitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alliance reconvened in 2024 and launched a new strategic plan.
The MHSU Alliance seeks to “make a real difference through our work by finding and using strategies that bring lasting, positive change” and allow individuals to “reach the level of health and wellbeing that they desire,” according to the plan.
Health equity and the input of people with lived and living experiences with mental health and substance use are values of the MHSU Alliance. Anyone is welcome to attend meetings and help bring the updated strategic plan to life by serving on work groups being established in spring of 2025.
Information about the MHSU Alliance can be found on the Health District of Northern Larimer County website at www.healthdistrict.org/community-impact-team-1. Those with questions may also email CIT@healthdistrict.org.
