Biking to the store or work can be a great way to travel and exercise at the same time. Northern Colorado is a very bike-friendly community with many resources available. There are great trails and routes in Fort Collins and Loveland.
Reasons you might consider walking/biking over driving:
- It saves you money. You will save on gas and vehicle maintenance over time.
- Walking reduces parking headaches and fees. Parking can be hard to find. When you find it, it often comes at a price.
- It only takes 15-20 minutes to walk one mile
- You can likely multitask while walking with an audiobook or podcast
- It is free to walk. Ridesharing, public transportation, and driving all come at a cost. Walking is free!
- There’s more fresh air on a walk or bike ride than on a drive.
- It can improve you mental well-being. Driving can cause stress, boredom and isolation. You can avoid that with a walk.
