Temporary permits are issued to allow time for the vehicle owner to operate the vehicle while obtaining the required documentation to complete title and/or registration processes on their vehicle. 

A temporary tag or permit is a paper license plate which may be issued for up to 60 days for a fee of $7.03 plus applicable sales taxes on a cash transaction. See sales tax information.

Temporary tags or permits issued by dealers are one-time permits.  In the event of a problem with the title, lien, or other paperwork, a 30-day extension may be issued at one of our locations

Extensions on dealer issued temporary tags

To get an extension on a dealer-issued temporary tag or permit, the following are required:

Note: If you do not receive a Title Complete Notice within 7-10 days prior to the expiration of your temporary, please call our office or check the status of your title paperwork online.
 

The fee for a temporary permit or tag includes sales tax and late fees (if applicable).

For reasons other than noted above must be discussed with staff directly.

Please do not use a license plate frame with the temporary as vehicle information may not be accessible.
