Letter from the Director: Real stories about Larimer County behavioral health investments that connect, heal us
“The shortest distance between two people is a story.” - Patti Digh
When our community passed the behavioral health sales tax, we made a promise: to invest in one another. This newsletter is part of keeping that promise. Every story shared reflects the people, organizations, and connections that make Larimer County’s behavioral health system stronger.
At its heart, The Lamplighter newsletter is your story. From the Alliance for Suicide Prevention to Hearts for Horses, the people featured here show what happens when compassion, collaboration, and courage meet real challenges. These stories remind us that healing often begins when people feel seen, valued, and connected.
There’s something restorative about noticing what’s working - the quiet acts of care, the persistence, the moments of progress. Highlighting these successes isn’t ignoring the challenges; it inspires us to keep moving forward and helps us tackle them together.
You’ll also find glimpses of the Behavioral Health Services team at work – like recognizing the CSU Psychological Services Center team with the Gary A. Darling award for its innovative new program.
These moments reflect the privilege and responsibility of being entrusted with your investment. They allow us to learn, collaborate with partners, and invite the community into building a stronger behavioral health system together. Each experience honors the promise your vote made possible.
As we move forward, our commitment is simple: to keep amplifying community voices, honor the dedication of our partners, and celebrate the impact of your investment. Thank you for reading, for engaging, and for being part of Larimer County’s ongoing story of resilience and well-being.
In gratitude,
