Voter Registration and Other Services
Register to Vote
Voter Eligibility
To be eligible to vote in Colorado, you must:
- Be at 18 years of age or older on the date of the election
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Have resided in Colorado for at least 22 days before the election
- Not be actively serving a sentence for a felony
Please note: individuals who are 15 years of age or older can pre-register as voters. Individuals who are (a) awaiting trial, (b) are serving sentences for misdemeanors or infractions, or (c) are on parole are eligible to vote. Students who have moved to Larimer County, Colorado from out of county or state may determine their residence at their own discretion. Registering to Vote
In Colorado, you can register at any time to vote in the upcoming election—including the day of the election itself—so long as you meet the requirements for eligibility. To register, you have three options:
- Submit an online form with the Colorado Secretary of State
- Download a paper form and return it to us by mail at PO Box 1547, Fort Collins, CO 80522
- Register in-person at our Office at 200 W Oak St, Suite 5100, Fort Collins, CO 80521
Please note: if you registered for a driver's license in Colorado, you are already registered to vote unless you opted out. To learn more about how elections work in Colorado, you can visit our resources page.
Register Online
To register online, all you need to do submit an online voter registration form with the Colorado Secretary of State's Office.
Please note: you must have a valid Colorado Driver's License or a Social Security Number to register online. Additionally, if you register with your social security number, you will need to provide our Office with an acceptable form of ID in order for your ballot to count.
Print at Home
If you prefer to use a paper form, you can download a paper form, print it out, fill in your information, and return it to us according to your preference:

- Drop it off in-person at our Office at 200 W Oak St Suite 5100, Fort Collins, CO 80521 anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays)

Update Your Registration
Update your Address, Political Party, Contact Info, and More
If you need to update your address, party affiliation, gender identity, email address, or phone number, you can update your voter registration with the Colorado Secretary of State.
- Log in with your legal name, zip code, and birthday.
- Click 'Edit' using the button on the right at the bottom of the screen.
- Verify your identity by entering your Colorado driver's license, ID card number, or the last four digits of your social security number.
- Update your information as you wish.
Please note: if you are a confidential voter, you'll need to update your voter registration through a paper form or in person. Additionally, if you submitted a National Change of Address form with the United States Postal Service, there is a strong likelihood that we received a notification and have updated your information accordingly.

Become a Confidential Voter
Removing Your Information
Per [statute or law or explanation here], voter registration information is a public record that is open to anyone who would like to view or use it (such as researchers and political campaigns). Public voter registration information includes your full name, address, party affiliation, phone number, gender, birth year, and voting record. It does not include personal identifying information such as your drivers license, birth date, email address, and social security number. Personal identifying information is not available to the public and is always confidential and protected.
If you would like to remove your information from the public record, just submit an online form with our Office.
If you prefer, you can also download the form, print it out, fill in your information, and return it to us according to your preference:

Address Confidentiality Program (ACP)
If you are a survivor of stalking, sexual assault, or domestic violence, you may be eligible for increased protection through Colorado's Address Confidentiality Program (ACP), which provides a legal substitute address and mail forwarding. To register for ACP, you'll need to meet with a certified Application Assistant from the Colorado Division of Central Services. Overseas and Military Voters (UOCAVA)
Signing up for UOCAVA
If you're a Colorado voter who is traveling overseas or serving on active military duty, you're eligible to receive special forms of access for voting through the Uniform and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA).
To sign up for UOCAVA, all you need to do is:
- Log in to edit your voter registration with the Colorado Secretary of State
- Click 'Edit' using the button on the right at the bottom of the screen.
- Verify your identity by entering your Colorado driver's license, ID card number, or the last four digits of your social security number.
- Select the appropriate option under "Are you any of the following?"
- A uniformed-service member, or immediate family member, who is also absent from Colorado due to active duty or service.
- An overseas civilian voter who is eligible to vote in Colorado.
- None of these.

Withdrawing from UOCAVA
If you've returned from your travel or are no longer serving on active military duty, all you need to do to remove yourself from the UOCAVA list is go back into your registration and select 'None of these'.

If you would like to view your ballot ahead of time (before you receive it in the mail), you can view your sample ballot with the Colorado Secretary of State's Office. To view your sample ballot
- Log in to the system with your legal name, zip code, and birthday
- Select 'Ballot Information' in the list of tabs (the second tab under your name near the top of the screen).
- Select 'View My Sample Ballot' above the section for 'Ballot Status'

Check Your Ballot Status
Sign up for BallotTrax
BallotTrax is a free service that provides notifications by text, phone, or email when your ballot is sent, received, and counted. To sign up for notifications:
- Log in to BallotTrax by entering your legal name, date of birth, and zip code.
- Select your preferences for receiving notifications
- You can receive notifications by text, phone call, or email. You can also set specific hours for when you'd like to receive notifications. Notifications are also available in Spanish.
Besides notifications, BallotTrax can also help you resolve any signature issue with your ballot. For increased security and communications, add your email address and phone number to your voter registration with the Colorado Secretary of State.
Check your Registration
If you prefer not to receive notifications, you can check your ballot status with the Colorado Secretary of State's Office. To check your ballot status:
- Log in to the system with your legal name, zip code, and birthday
- Select 'Ballot Information' in the list of tabs (the second tab under your name near the top of the screen).
Call our Office
Our Office can also check your ballot status for you over the phone. To check your ballot status, simply give us a call at (970) 498-7820 any time Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding holidays).
Withdraw A Registration
Withdraw Your Registration
If you are moving out of state or would no longer like to vote in elections, you can withdraw your registration.
To withdraw your registration, you can submit an online form with the Colorado Secretary of State's Office.
If you prefer, you can also download the form, print it out, fill in your information, and return it to us according to your preference:

Please note: if you submitted a National Change of Address form with the United States Postal Service, there is a strong likelihood that we received a notification and have updated your information accordingly. That being said, we strongly recommend that you check.
Deceased Voters
If a family member has passed, you can remove them from the voter record by completing a deceased voter form.
Please note: while we receive notifications from the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) whenever someone has passed, we strongly recommend submitting a form.

About Districts and Precincts
Based on where you live, precincts and districts determine what you are eligible to vote on and what races appear on your ballot. While precincts include local, state, and federal offices (including County Commissioners, Congressional Representatives, Senators, etc), you may be in a district for certain schools, taxes, fire protection agencies,
While districts play an important role in determining what you're eligible to vote for, they do not affect where you vote or require that you go to a specific vote center. You can return your ballot or vote in-person at any vote center in Larimer County.

Besides UOCAVA and ACP voters, our Office offers other forms of service and support for voters in Larimer County, including:

Emergency Ballots
In certain situations, our Office may be able to provide special forms of support to voters who have been evacuated from their homes due to natural disasters, are confined to their homes due to health care concerns, or are taking care of someone who is confined to their home.
