SCOPE OF WORK
Widening of US 34 and construction of a new access point for the Canyons Edge Open Space located west of Loveland off US 34. Improvements include:
- construction of a new access point approximately 600 feet south of the existing field access
- widening on the eastbound (south) side of US 34 to accommodate a left turn inbound deceleration lane
PURPOSE
This project is planned due to:
- the need for public access to the future Canyons Edge Open Space
- the requirement to meet Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) State Highway Access Code standards for taking access off a state highway
BUDGET
$TBD
This project is being funded by the Larimer County Natural Resources Department
PROJECT STATUS
- conceptual traffic evaluation completed August 20, 2024 showing the need for a westbound left turn lane
- design is underway and anticipated to be completed in winter of 2026
- Larimer County is coordinating with the Handy Ditch Company for drainage impacts
