Free Food Safety Training for Small Food Businesses
Larimer County CSU Extension, in collaboration with the Larimer County Economic and Workforce Development and the City of Fort Collins Economic Health Office, is offering a scholarship program for small food-related businesses to provide professional development for employees. This opportunity helps you build a skilled, confident workforce while supporting your business’s growth and success.
This is a first-come, first-served opportunity, with limited spaces available. Classes must be completed by March 31.

Who’s Eligible?
Your small food-related business may qualify if:
- Located within Larimer County
- Has 1 to 50 employees
- Pays in to unemployment insurance for employees
- Provides workers' compensation for employees
- If located within Fort Collins, must be compliant with city sales tax.

Covered Training for Your Team
Food Safety Works (FSW) teaches essential food handling skills for employees who prepare or serve food, providing hands-on experience and a two-year statewide certificate that helps staff become job-ready.
Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) is designed for managers, owners, or supervisory staff in a Retail Food Establishment (RFE) and focuses on leading safe food operations, ensuring compliance with Colorado’s 2022 FDA Food Code.
