Loveland man arrested for burglary of several Prairiestar homes
On Sunday, September 21, 2025, deputies responded to a report of a male who attempted to steal property from a Berthoud resident’s garage. The homeowner scared off the suspect, and deputies were unable to locate the male. The next morning, deputies received several calls in the same neighborhood reporting items that had been stolen from garages.
Through investigative techniques, a suspect vehicle was located, and a suspect identified. Deputies observed a male driving the suspect vehicle, and after stopping it, found a significant amount of stolen property inside. Deputies then obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s storage unit, residence, and vehicle. In total, stolen property totaling over $13,700 was recovered.
The suspect, identified as Roger Rickard (DOB 10/17/1987) was arrested on the following charges:
- Second degree burglary of a building (Class 5 Felony-5 counts)
- Theft-$5,000-$20,000 (Class 5 Felony)
- Attempted second degree burglary of a building (Class 6 Felony)
- Possession of burglary tools (Class 2 Misdemeanor)
A booking photo is attached. He was issued a $10,000 personal recognizance with co-signer bond by the Larimer County Court. Rickard was on parole for a prior burglary case.
"Thanks to thorough police work and a meticulous investigation, our deputies have recovered most of the stolen property and returned it to its rightful owners. This individual will be held accountable for his actions," said Sergeant Justin Williamson of the Berthoud squad.
Deputies believe there are additional unreported thefts that occurred in the Prairiestar Subdivision, and there is additional recovered stolen property that deputies want to return to their original owners. If you live in the Prairiestar Subdivision in Berthoud and believe you were a victim of theft, please contact Deputy Zack Anderson at (970) 498-5597.
The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
