Shining silver

We did it again. For the third year in a row, Larimer County was recognized at the Silver Level by the Colorado Green Business Network.

What’s the Colorado Green Business Network Recognition? It’s a program that recognizes and rewards organizations that work to integrate sustainability into their operations every day. https://cdphe.colorado.gov/dehs/sustainability/cgbn/recognition. 

The silver designation distinguishes organizations that have moved beyond basic compliance and applied significant environmental initiatives through policy decisions and efficiency upgrades. Learn more about what we’re up to here: https://www.larimer.gov/sustainability/internal-climate-plan.

For example, this year, Larimer County reduced its water consumption through numerous turf-reduction projects and xeriscaping at many of its buildings, saving over 1 million gallons of water. The county also added to its sustainability operations by installing five EV charging stations at selected Larimer County sites. 

Based within the Colorado Department of Health and Environment, the Green Business Network offers support to organizations to improve energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction, as well as environmental and climate responsibility.
