Notice for 2020 Tax Lien Sale
To begin with, I wish to share my hope that you and your families are well during the COVID-19 pandemic that is affecting us all. It has been a difficult and challenging time for so many.
As you may know, the county building at 200 W. Oak in Ft. Collins was closed to the public for a period of time. And although Larimer County government has been fortunate to receive a variance from the State to operate, we have found that keeping the variance hasn’t been as easy as one would think; it’s all dependent on the number of cases of COVID-19; which is mostly out of our hands and up to all individuals to do their part.
Despite these challenges, my staff and I were here daily processing payments, answering phones and emails, and finding newer and safer ways to serve taxpayers and investors alike.
We were recently informed that “The Ranch” complex will remain closed, potentially until March 2021, because it is currently being occupied by the State for the pandemic response. Unfortunately there are no other facilities that will enable us to hold our in-person tax lien sale this year. Even if the McKee building were available, and large enough for mandated social distancing, there are too many variables that would have to fall into place all at the right time for us to hold a live sale.
So, for the first (and hopefully only) time, we will need to hold our tax lien sale online. The start date of the sale is the same, Thursday November 19th 2020. The interest rate for 2020 will be set by the State on September 1, 2020.
We will continue to post the latest information for this online auction on this webpage.
I apologize for this change – please know we investigated every scenario possible to host a live sale before making this difficult decision to go online this year. As always, please feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns. We are still here for you.
Be well, stay safe,
Irene Josey
Larimer County Treasurer and Public Trustee
