Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
The CERT Program is a training that educates volunteers about disaster preparedness and the potential local hazards they may experience in their area. CERT offers basic disaster preparedness and response training so that participants may be able to better assist professionals with more complex tasks if their community experiences a major disaster or disruption. The training includes such skills as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
Please note that CERT training does offer important development of skills, but is not intended to replace first responders. This training is in place to empower citizens to be able to take immediate action needed until the professional help can arrive.
Larimer OEM provides instructor support to the CERT program, but is not a CERT Program host. This is done through the City of Fort Collins Office of Emergency Preparedness and Security.
