Emergency Leave is a type of leave Decision Makers have the discretion to use for employee needs and unusual situations that arise.
Decision Makers must use the leave consistently for employees in similar situations. Here are a suggestions for emergency leave use.
- Adopting a child - before the adoption for court appointments, adoption agency appointments, etc.;
- Extend bereavement leave;
- When the County closes for a snow day;
- Potential foster parents - for appointments, training, and home visits before becoming a foster parent;
- Loss of a pet;
- Loss of a person whose relationship is not noted in the bereavement policy, such as a fiancee, domestic partner, or household member;
- Testifying in court when they are subpoenaed to testify;
- Situations related to a family member who is a victim of a crime (court and attorney appointments, medical or mental health appointments).
