About Us
Adult Protective Services receives reports of mistreatment or self-neglect of at-risk adults who, due to age or disability, are unable to advocate for themselves. Following an assessment, Adult Protective Services will make referrals to implement services to reduce risk and prevent further mistreatment.
Reports may be made to the Adult Protective Services Intake at (970) 498-7770 during both regular business hours and after hours. Reports may be faxed at any time to (970) 498-6995. For an after hours emergency, please call local law enforcement or 911. The identities of reporters are kept confidential.
Mandatory Reporting
As of July 1, 2014, certain professionals are required to report allegations of physical abuse, sexual abuse, financial exploitation, and caretaker neglect to the law enforcement agency where the at-risk adult resides. Beginning July 1, 2016, these same professionals and additional entities are also required to report mistreatment of at-risk adults with an Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD). For more information on the Mandatory Reporting requirements in Colorado, please visit the Colorado Department of Human Services.
