Enjoy an evening with members of the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society (NCAS) for an up-close look at the night sky over the Rockies. Telescopes will be available for viewing stars, galaxies, planets and more! Bring the whole group to connect with the wonders of the night sky. 

This open house-style program is located at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space (entrance on County Road 38E). Telescopes will be set up in the paved parking lot. Program is free but a parking pass is required. Registration is encouraged. 

LOVELAND – Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) is seeking public input for proposed management plan recommendations of Chimney Hollow Open Space (CHOS). Public input will be collected beginning Oct. 22 through Nov. 15 via an online survey as well as at a virtual public open house on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m.

DENVER, Colo. – NoCo Places, a collaborative of eight federal, state, and county land management agencies in the northern Colorado Front Range, has released a Conservation and Recreation Vision for the region, an effort two years in the making. The Vision describes current conditions, shared values, desired future conditions, a shared management philosophy, and management strategies and activities to achieve conservation and recreation goals. The visioning process also informed the development of an action plan to guide key projects for the next several years.

Carter Lake re-opens to all recreation

Recreators are welcome to return to Carter Lake for all standard recreation as of Friday, 9/20. This includes paddlecraft and motorized boating in all zones. We thank our community members for their patience while we partially restricted access to make way for fire scooper planes fighting the #PearlFire earlier in the week. Please be aware that fire suppression efforts are still ongoing and the status of Carter Lake recreation is subject to change.
