Important Update: Hearings Postponed to Spring 2027
The County has been working diligently on revisions to the Special Events code (Article 7.0). To ensure we carefully consider feedback from applicants, reviewers, community members, internal staff, and the Board of County Commissioners—and to accommodate the upcoming holiday season—we have postponed all hearings until spring 2027.
Our goal is to develop revisions that support safe, well-managed events while ensuring requirements in unincorporated Larimer County are appropriate, clear, and effective.
Planning a 2027 Event?
There are no changes to the special event requirements for events scheduled in 2027. If you are planning an event for the 2027 season, please visit the Special Event Permits website for additional information and to access the application.
Future Code Revisions (Taking Effect in 2028)
Any revisions adopted in spring 2027 will take effect beginning with the 2028 special event season. The comprehensive review of Article 7 focuses on:
Applicability: When is a special event permit required?
Event Types: How should standards and processes vary for different types of events?
Permit Requirements: What performance criteria and code requirements must be met?
Limitations and Prohibitions: Are there limitations on activities, hours of operation, locations, or types of events?
Accountability: How should permit conditions be enforced and organizers held accountable?

County staff is currently incorporating stakeholder feedback into a new draft. Updated draft versions will be posted here for community review prior to the Spring 2027 hearings. Once the new draft is published, hearing dates, times, and opportunities for feedback will be shared on this page.
