International Remote Work
Working remotely from an International location is not currently supported by Larimer County. When an employee works internationally, it is difficult to comply with international employment law, as well as, international payroll requirements. Larimer County does not have the capacity to have international employment compliance.
Out-of-State Remote Work
Employee requests for remote work out-of-state, as part of their remote work application, will be reviewed by both Risk Management and Human Resources Payroll. Out-of-state remote work requires the County to assure appropriate worker’s compensation, unemployment, and tax payment is set up prior to the employee working remotely. Risk and Payroll will be notified through the remote work application process, however, it is a good idea to reach out ahead of time.
If an employee is currently approved for remote work and would like to work remotely out-of-state, the employee will need to complete another remote work application.
Each department approving a remote work arrangement with an out-of-state employee will be responsible for the cost of the workers’ compensation insurance policy purchased by the County for that state. If multiple departments have employees in a state, the premium will be prorated between the departments.
