About Human Services

The Department of Human Services helps local people and families get back on their feet and stay safe. We offer government aid, helpful services, and connections to local groups that can support you. We have offices in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Estes Park.

What We Do

Help residents get food
Health insurance to pay for medical bills
Provide short-term money help for families
Help keep children and adults safe from harm
Help tracking down and collecting child support
Care and support for people with disabilities or low incomes
Connect people with local groups that can share resources

Office on Aging The Larimer County Office on Aging (LCOA) is the Area Agency on Aging for Larimer County and serves adults 60 and beyond, adults living with a disability, and caregivers.

Larimer County offers programs to help you pay for food, doctor bills, child care, and daily expenses. Follow the steps below to check your eligibility and apply. Visit our Public Benefits page for more information.

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Use the free MyFriendBen tool online! It quickly shows you which benefits, non-profit programs, and tax credits you qualify for, how much money you could get, and how long it takes to sign up.

Step 2: Apply for Assistance

When you are ready to apply, use the online Colorado PEAK system to turn in your application.

Step 3: Check Application Status

Log back into PEAK anytime to see if your application was approved. If you prefer to speak to someone, call us at (970) 498-6300.
